The Difference Between A Mino And An Ultra Flip?

Ten years ago ...

Good evening,

today I just wanted to write a quick post to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Marion Zimmer Bradley, who died exactly 25 September 1999.

His ashes are part of the land of Glastonbury Tor, England, in the place where legend has it that there is the entrance to the mysterious island of Avalon.

Marion Zimmer Bradley Darkover

Dear Sisters,

there are many reasons that prompted me to start this blog.
first try against unbounded admiration of the beloved queen of fantasy, or Marion Zimmer Bradley .

Many of you will know because they have read or at least heard of his The Mists of Avalon, which drew from the famous novel into a film for television. This passion has resulted over the years into a fairly large collection of books, which include in particular almost all the books of the cycle of Darkover. My favorite writer in this tradition has managed to create a wonderful fantasy world full of magic but also of content easily due to the society in which he lived. And in many volumes the history of this planet Darkover, colonized at a time remote from a ship lost in space exploration land and isolated from the Earth for thousands of years.

But in this vein is a small inner loop that I can not determine if it is not surprising: it is the cycle of the Free Amazons . Books such as The
broken chain, The kingdoms of Darkover , The city of magic accompany us into the lodge of Free Amazons and show us the life and the difficulties faced by those women who have decided to give up the protection of men, and some also to the privileges, in a patriarchal society like medieval Darkovan.

Now I leave with the hope that some of you read one of the titles mentioned above (in order to better understand the unfolding of events better to start with the broken chain ).

In the next post will have more explanations: P

Christmas Wishes For My Manager

The Oath of the Free Amazons

From this day forth I renounce the right to marry unless the marriage with a free, no man of catenas bind me and I will not dwell in the house of any man as a concubine.

I swear that I will be ready to defend myself by force if I am attacked by force, and that I'll come to no man ask for protection.

I swear that from now on I will not call the name of any man, father, guardian, lover or husband is, but I'll be known only as the daughter of my mother.

I swear that I will not give children any man, except for my satisfaction, my own choice and the time that I decided, I will not give to any young man for reasons of inheritance or family, clan or lineage, pride or Dynasty, I swear that I alone will decide whether to keep or to give my children up for adoption, regardless of pride or position of any man.

Henceforth I renounce my obligations to family and clan, house, guardian or lord, and I swear to obey only the laws of the nation as it is the duty of every free citizen, to the crown and the gods.

not ask any man protection, help or aid, but only to obey my mother to vote, my sisters of the Lodge and my employer for the duration of the contract.

also swear that every member of the Guild of Free Amazons will be for me as a mother, a daughter and a sister, blood of my blood and that no woman bound by oath to the Corporation will pay attention to me in vain.

I swear to obey all laws of the Guild of Free Amazons and any lawful command of my mother to vote, members of the Corporation or of my employer for the period of my employment. And if you betray the secrets of Corporation, or if I break the oath, I will entrust to the Mothers of the Lodge because I punish, if fail, that the hand of every woman to turn against me, kill me like an animal and corruption leave my body unburied, and to the mercy of the Goddess my soul.
